Meet Claudia, with a varied background in all things interiors and garden related Claudia brings a wealth of design and colour knowledge to the team.

Born and bred on the North Shore Claudia spent many years in Devonport raising her two daughters before returning to Takapuna, where she was born, 4 years ago. We sat down for a quick intro and can't wait to share more of Claudia's thoughts on creating unique, personalised outdoor spaces over the coming weeks.

What did you get up to before joining Jardin?

I have a Certificate in Garden Design from UNITEC and ran my own garden design and maintenance business for a few years. I’ve also worked as a garden advisor for a large garden centre franchise helping people bring their own gardens to life.

What is your home style?

After 30 years living in villas and couple of years in a terraced apartment, we took the plunge and built a new family home. Working with a local architect we had a hands-on role in the project from start to finish, including the garden!

My current style is quite contemporary, reflecting the modern architecture and materiality of our new house. In my new garden I’ve selected plants for texture and shape rather than having flowers, which is a break from my previous subtropical garden. I’m trying to create a garden that looks like seaweeds and plants on the sea floor, taking some inspiration from our coastal location. I’m really happy with the way things are growing after only a year. Some things I can’t do without though and my potted frangipanis have found a spot too!

What is your favourite Fermob collection?

It’s so hard to pick just one! But I’m really in love with the Surprising chair and table range just now. I love the sled base, slim lines and the option of teak slats too. Can I have two? Them put me down for ‘Sixties!

What is your favourite Fermob colour and what colours would you combine with it?

I really love Acapulco Blue- this would look amazing at my place. Fermob colour combinations are endless – but I’d pick any of the grey tones like Storm Grey, Steel Grey and add some Lagoon Blue in for a fresh accent.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

On my days off I like heading off on one of my mountain bikes - I have both “pushbike” and electric mountain bikes! My favourite thing is to search out hidden corners of the city or head to some gravel roads and hills. If the weather isn’t co-operating, I head indoors to pursue my heritage advocacy interests or to work on some family history projects.
